Rebecca Dowden

Rebecca studied at The Royal Academy of Music where she was a member of the Opera Course. During her time there she performed the leading role in Berstein's "Trouble in Tahiti" at the Edinburgh Festival and worked as a performer and tutor with English National Opera's Educational Programme.

Since leaving college she has established a thriving private teaching practice. She frequently runs workshops for children under the banner, "Let's make a Musical", and takes classes in singing for her local adult education centre.

Rebecca has travelled to many European venues with the Ambrosian Opera Chorus including Carmen in which Jose Carreras led the cast. You may even have heard Rebecca singing "Rule Brittania" in The Burgess Hill Summer Festival.

As a stage director she has worked at the Cambridge Festival directing a contemporary opera based on "The Fallen Idol" for the Royal Academy of Music. Rebecca has worked with BHOS on "Princess Ida", "Oklahoma!", and "The Sound of Music" .
