The society previously known as Burgess Hill Operatic Society (BHOS)!
Our society had been called Burgess Hill Operatic Society since it was founded in 1952. In recent years, many members of the society became concerned that having the word 'Operatic' in our name could have been
off-putting to potential audience or members - especially for our thriving Youth Section. And after all, if you look at our "Shows" directory, we haven't really been an 'operatic society'
for a couple of decades!
The issue was discussed at the society's 2007 AGM and in an almost unanimous vote it was decided to change our name to
Burgess Hill Musical Theatre Society (BHMTS).
It was too late to change the name for "Children of Eden" as publicity and tickets were already in motion, so the change become
effective for our 2007 autumn production, "World's End to West End" where the cast wore shirts with the new name and logo emblazoned on them!
Our website address also changed to www.bhmts.org.uk.
(If you've still got an old BHOS web address, please update your records.)
And we didn' just stop with the website. To celebate our new name, we also moved onto the MySpace and Facebook social networking sites - look us up and join the fun!
